Last Days of January

by Philip Bosley

/

about

Week 25. This is what happens when you stockpile ideas and release them one at a time... a song you wrote in January gets released in June.

lyrics

Can you still admit defeat
For reasons dull and arbitrary
To a point you won't concede
Like the last days of January

Nothing new, just a new old set of nothing

Case in point, for all to see
Four seasons worth in five short weeks
To the point of poor man's poetry
In the last days of January

Nothing new, just a new old set of nothing
Misconstrued, true to nothing like the truth

Like rain to snow, and snow to ice
This malcontentment should suffice
Take your own bad advice
Drowning in a shallow paradise

Complete in abject misery
Foreshadows on a jaded screed
Past the point of points now past
Last days ahead, so make them last

Nothing new, just a new old set of nothing
Misconstrued, true to nothing like the truth
Fortitude, failing like it always will
Head down in a daze, into the cold and dark days ahead
